Appointments - The home of Doctor First

We are proud to announce that we can offer you a same-day appointment, at a convenient time for you, any day of the week thanks to our appointment system, "Doctor First."

Consultations are available throughout the day.

Routine consultations are by appointment usually between 8:30am and 6:00pm Monday to Friday with the exception of Thursday when they are usually between 8:30 am and 12:00 midday.

If you need an appointment outside of these times please ask and we will try our best to accommodate you.

Please attend for your appointment on time. If you cannot attend please tell us as soon as possible.

Booking an Appointment or Requesting a Visit

Give a brief description of your problem. (You do not have to do this but it helps us to know who the best person is for you to talk to).

One of the following will then happen:

• You will be put through to speak to a Doctor or Nurse for an immediate consultation by phone. They will then book you an appointment should you wish.
• Your telephone number will be taken and a Doctor or Nurse will call you back. They will then book you an appointment should you wish.
• An appointment will be booked for you directly by the Receptionist. 

The practice is open from 8:30am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday with the exception of Thursdays when it closes at 12 midday. An emergency service operates outside of these times, all you need to do is dial 111 from your telephone. Surgeries run every morning and afternoon that the surgery is open. Within that range, where possible we tailor our appointment times to suit you.

You can book ahead for appointments with the Doctor, Nurses and Health Care Assistants if necessary

Extended Access appointments

We are increasing the number of appointments available for you to see a GP in the early mornings, evenings or at weekends across West Leicestershire.

Depending on your individual circumstances and symptoms, we may offer you an ‘extended access’ appointment. Please note however, that these appointments will not be in your usual GP practice and may not be with one of your usual GPs or nurses.

Depending on the reason for your appointment, and if you are in agreement, it may be suitable for you to see an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, instead of a GP.

The clinician you see will be able to access relevant sections of your medical notes and will communicate what has happened during your appointment back to your usual GP practice.

These appointments will be available at the following locations:

• Rosebery Medical Centre, Loughborough
• Coalville Community Hospital
• The Centre Surgery, Hinckley

Booking an Appointment online...

We are now able to offer our Patients the opportunity to pre-book a telephone appointment with a GP online.  The appointments available will be for a telephone call-back from the GP only, similar to if you had called in the Surgery that morning and requested an appointment over the telephone. 

You will need to ask a receptionist for your log-in details to access online services, which will then be emailed to you (or printed on request).

All new patients will be automatically set up for online access and log in details will be emailed to them.

Once you have registered, you will be able to log-in to the patient access screen and pre-book a telephone consultation with a GP.  You will also be able to order your repeat prescriptions from the same screen if required.

For access to further areas of your record, you will need to complete an application form (available from reception), which will then be reviewed by the GP and authorised if appropriate. 

PLEASE NOTE: the slots available for pre-booking will be at 00:01, 00:02 or 00:03 hours - this is not when you will receive your call back.  The GP will begin calling Patients booked in for a telephone call from 08:30am onwards.

Home Visits

If possible please try to telephone reception before 10:00 if you require a home visit.

Home visits are made to patients who are medically unable to attend the surgery, by arrangement with the Doctor directly.

You can be visited at home by the community nursing team if you are referred by your GP.
